How many Different types of Websites?

A website is a collection of World Wide Web pages usually containing hyperlinks to each other and located under a single domain name. There are five different types of websites depending on the type of Purpose. These are as follows:-

1) Personal Portfolios website

A portfolio website is more business and focused on individual work and brand. The purpose of an online portfolio is to create blogs or resumes for an individual.

2) E-commerce website

An E-commerce website is buying and selling of goods and services to its customer by using an electronic network like the internet. These business activities happen either as business-to-business, business-to-consumer, consumer-to-consumer or consumer-to-business.

3) Informative website

Informational websites produce quality information potential and active customers from different sources. These websites are normally content driven.

4) Social media website

A social networking site is an online platform that allows communication with other users on the website.

5) Corporate website

A website which is used to give information about a particular business, organization or service. There are certain key terms which are very important to know before website creation. These are as follows:

a) Static website

A static website is the most basic type of website comprises of web pages with fixed content. All the pages are coded in HTML and provide the same information to every visitor.

b) Dynamic website

A dynamic website includes web pages that are generated dynamically in real time. These pages contain web scripting code, such as PHP or ASP based on the information stored in the database.

c) Responsive Web design

Responsive web design means a website which is more user-friendly and provides easy reading and navigation across a wide range of devices.

d) Web CMS

A content management system (CMS) is a set of programs that are used for creating, storing, managing and publishing a web page in the form of text, images, and videos, etc in a very easy way. This is very helpful to those who don’t have knowledge of coding languages.

e) Domain

A domain is a name which is used to access a website with a common set of rules. Each domain is linked with an IP address where all the web pages are saved.

There are few points which are very helpful before choosing a domain like domain should be related to business, something unique should be easy to remember and type and always prefer domain name ending with (.com).

f) Hosting

A web hosting is a type of Internet hosting service that provides individuals and organizations to make their website available via the World Wide Web.

g) Website wireframe

A website wireframe is a visual guide that represents the skeletal framework of a website. Wireframes are helpful to arrange quick blueprint of website elements for accomplishing a particular purpose.

h) Website navigation

This system acts as a roadmap to all the diverse areas and information contained within the website. Local content area and local navigation area are two global navigation areas.
